What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol is one of the more than hundred cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. Compared to THC, probably the most famous cannabinoid, CBD does not have an intoxicating effect , but does have numerous beneficial properties.

How does CBD work?

A narrative review on the effects of CBD published in 2022 underlines that CBD supports the body in numerous disorders through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) . The ECS consists of a network of receptors (CB1 and CB2) that are distributed throughout the body. These are responsible for regulating various biological processes that can be positively influenced by taking CBD .

What effect does CBD tea have?

CBD tea offers support for a wide variety of disorders and also increases general well-being.

In particular, CBD tea can contribute to:

  • To sleep better.  A clinical study from 2019 on the use of CBD for sleep disorders attributes great potential to this natural active ingredient. Accordingly, CBD can help to correct the sleep-wake rhythm and improve the quality of sleep.
  • Relieve stomach pain and support healthy digestion . Stomach pain is often caused by inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. By stimulating CB2 receptors , CBD can promote the resolution of inflammation and therefore be useful for inflammation-related stomach pain. In addition, CBD is said to have relaxing effects , which has an indirect positive effect on digestion.
  • To increase concentration.  As already explained, CBD can help you sleep better, which has a positive effect on concentration and learning ability . It is also believed that CBD can inhibit the release of cortisol, which is also known as the stress hormone and has been proven to slow down the brain when it comes to coping with cognitively demanding tasks.

To enhance a specific property of CBD, a number of selected herbs can be added to hemp tea. We'll go into more detail about this in our recipes at the end of this post.

How do you prepare hemp flower tea?

To prepare a good CBD hemp flower tea, we recommend proceeding as follows:

  1. First, you should chop the hemp flowers thoroughly . In this way, the extraction surface is increased and the beneficial effects of the CBD can develop better. A good dosage to start with might be 2.5g of CBD flowers per 250ml of water. If the desired effect does not occur, you can use a little more cannabis next time.
  2. Then bring the water with the crushed flowers to the boil and let the tea simmer with the lid on for 15-20 minutes .
  3. Then add a wooden spoon of milk (plant milk also works wonderfully) and let your hemp flower tea simmer for another 10 minutes . The CBD is fat-soluble and is better absorbed this way.

Complete!

Can you drink hemp tea every day?

In any case. On the one hand, CBD does not cause dependence and can therefore be taken without worry in the long term. On the other hand, it is assumed that CBD only fully develops its effect when taken constantly.

Does hemp tea have side effects?

If you use high-quality CBD flowers that contain no more than 0.2% THC , the occurrence of serious side effects can generally be ruled out. The only known side effects are fatigue and increased tiredness. However, anyone who uses CBD tea to fall asleep would hardly speak of an undesirable side effect.

3 recipes to support you morning, lunch and evening

For these three recipes we recommend preparing CBD tea as already explained. The additional herbs are then added to the hot, but no longer boiling, drink.

1. CBD tea for more concentration ( Silver Haze CBD and Yerba Mate)

Silver Haze CBD is our lightest strain and is also rich in carophyllen, a terpene that is said to have mood-enhancing and anti-anxiety properties . Yerba Mate, on the other hand, has a stimulating and activating effect. If you want to sweeten this tea, you could definitely choose eucalyptus honey. Its spicy taste goes wonderfully with the bitter aroma of yerba mate.

Add a few leaves of yerba mate per 250 ml of tea and let it steep for 5-7 minutes.

2. CBD tea for good digestion ( AK-47 CBD and mint)

With a CBD content of 20%, our AK-47 is a very balanced strain that you can safely treat yourself to during the day. Mint has a beneficial effect on digestive problems of all kinds and can also relieve stomach pain and nausea. This tea offers the ideal combination to recover from a heavy lunch. If you want to sweeten it, you are always well advised to add a little lemon honey.

Add 7-10 mint leaves per 250 ml of tea and let steep for about 10 minutes.

3. CBD tea for better sleep ( diesel CBD , lemon balm and mallow flowers)

Diesel CBD stands out due to its very high CBD content and is ideal for promoting restful sleep in combination with lemon balm and mallow blossoms . The lemon balm also goes perfectly with the spicy and fruity taste of our Diesel CBD. We recommend orange honey to sweeten it.

Add 30 g lemon balm and 30 g mallow flowers per 250 ml tea and let it steep for 10 minutes.
